Modifying the Whois / Contact Details of all Domain Names (except .EU and .UK)

We offer you a comprehensive set of features to allow you to manage your Domain Name Contact details easily. All Domain Names (except .EU) have four Contacts associated with them. The Registrant (which is the owner of the Domain Name), the Administrative Contact, the Technical Contact and the Billing Contact.

In our system, Contacts are separate from a Domain Name. We maintain a separate database of ALL Contact information that you have used for registering any Domain Name, separately in a Contact database. This allows you to re-use the Contact information for any other Domain Name registration without having to fill in all the values yourself.

All Domain Names have 4 associated Contacts with them. Think of this as linking Contacts from your Contact database to the Domain Names you Register. Whenever you change any Contact information in any Contact, it will automatically change that information in every Domain Name which uses that Contact information.

If you need to Modify your Contact Information for a Domain Name, simply follow the steps below -

  1. Login to your Control Panel and search for the domain name. Click here to find instructions for doing so >>

  2. Click on the Domain name in the search results to get to the Order details view.

  3. Click on the Modify Contact Details button.

  4. You now have two options of modifying the Contact Details for your Domain Name -

(i) Use your existing Contact Database: You will be shown 4 dropdowns in this option. These dropdowns will be populated with all the Contacts that this particular Customer has used in all Domain Registrations with us. You will be able to select the Contact you wish to apply for your Domain Name from this dropdown list.

(ii) Specify Contact Details: You will be able to separately modify the Contact information for the Domain Name by directly specifying it in the Text boxes. If you change the Name or Company Name, you would be asked, if you wish to change this particular Contact only or you want to reflect this change to all the Contacts that are using this. If you change any other details, then they would automatically be applied to the all the Contacts that are using this.

Thus, for example, if you are using the following Contact Details for only a particular Domain Name and NOT anywhere else -

Registrant Contact Details

Now, if you change the Name or Company Name or both for a Contact, you would be asked whether you wish to make the change for all the Contacts (Registrant, Billing, Admin & Technical) or simply change that particular Contact, and also if you wish to implement this change for all domains using this Contact.

On the other hand, if you change any other details, then all the Registrant, Admin and Technical Contact would be changed automatically for all domain names under that Customer using that particular Contact.

Apart from the above process, Contacts can be created and managed independent of the Domain Name(s), directly from within the Customer Control Panel. Click here to read how >>
